Give peace a chance
I finally got some sewing done that had nothing to do with our new house, and it felt really good.
A new tote!

The fabric store had a yummy display of new corduroy, and I just couldn’t resist. Hello Autumn.

This will go in my Atomic Holiday Bazaar stockpile, because the big, bad craft fair will be here before I know it. I can’t wait, but I have a lot of work to do. A lot. I don’t want to think about it.

In the meantime, this tote is for sale in The Boutique here.
Atomic Holiday Bazaar
I’m in! I’m in! I’m in!
Fat Orange Cat is officially a vendor in this year’s Atomic Holiday Bazaar!
I had so much fun doing this show last year, and I was THRILLED to find out that I’ve been accepted as a vendor again this year.
If you’re anywhere in the Tampa/Sarasota area, you must come to this show. Not even just to see me (although I wouldn’t mind if that’s why you came!). Atomic attracts the best and most creative vendors from around Florida, and I guarantee, you will be wowed. I’m honored to be a part of this show for the second year in a row.
So…um…I guess I better get sewing, eh?
AHB: the aftermath
Atomic Holiday Bazaar. Was. Awesome.

I’ve never seen anything like it. There was a line stretched around the side of the building waiting for the doors to open at noon.

There was a steady flow of people through my booth all day, and I made a bunch of sales.

I had some of the most interesting conversations with people, including my neighboring vendor from Detroit who poured me a mimosa in the afternoon, a textile designer who discussed fabrics with me, an 8-year-old girl who played with my aprons like they were toys, and a woman who said my aprons would be “perfect” if only they had pockets. I know! I’m working on it!

The other vendors were fabulous! My mom manned my booth for a few minutes toward the end of the day so that Alex and I could walk around, and I was super impressed by the talent in that room. And honored to be among them.

By the end of the day, I was thirsty and hungry and exhausted and my feet hurt and I was simply thrilled to have been a part of it all. I had the best time.
I’m going to try to post one to two items to The Boutique each day that didn’t sell at the show. Today, I posted this:
and this:
Three
Three days until Atomic. But, ya know, who’s counting?

I realized a few days ago that I only had about five Fat Orange Cat labels left, and I’m now officially out. I’ve reordered them, but they’ll take a few weeks to get here.

So anything I make between now and then will be sans label. I’m being a very bad self-promoter!

I made another apron with “cheater” pockets.

This horse fabric makes me smile. It’s just so kitschy and fun.

This is lined in a contrasting green and white fabric and finished with yellow binding.

Off to sew!
Full
Atomic countdown: FOUR DAYS!!!!!!!!!!

I’m excited. And nervous. But mostly excited.

I’ve made full aprons as gifts for friends and my future MIL, but I’ve never made any to sell until now.

And so I’m in the final stretch before the big show. This is the week where I fit in all the last-minute sewing that I can and then let fate and circumstance take over.

The show is this Sunday, Dec. 14, from noon to 6, at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium on 801 N. Tamiami Trail. If you’re able to make it, please stop by my booth and introduce yourself. You don’t even have to buy anything! I promise!
