Lazy holiday with random thoughts

I’ve finally decided (sorta) on what fabrics to use for the pillows for my old-but-new-to-me bench.

I say “sorta” because I’ve decided for sure on the red plaid and the Alexander Henry “buffet” fabric, but I’m not sure about the green stripes. I’ve intentionally stayed away from anything too feminine (which is what I’m naturally drawn to) because Alex has to eat and work here too!

Alex placed our coffee cups side-by-side this morning, and the juxtaposition of “his and hers” and “big and small” made me smile. Obviously, the “boys are smelly” mug is mine, a wonderful gift that my sister gave me years ago.

Over the course of the past couple of weeks, we’ve created work spaces for ourselves at the kitchen table. It happened very naturally. I ended up there first because I wanted to sit on my new bench, and I liked that it allowed me to sit with my back against the wall, facing our main living area. Some of my favorite moments are spent here, often in the evening after we both get home from work. I love that we can both be hard at work while still spending quality time together in our cozy little kitchen corner. I call our setup “dueling laptops.”

I love my view, but sometimes I wish the cluttered kitchen counter would clean itself.

Beautiful Sunday If mud and rust had a love child, it would be called Rustoleum
