From spaghetti sauce to cotton balls
Edited on July 6: After a good night’s sleep and a revisit to yesterday’s post, I realize that the light in which I shot these photographs makes the jar lids look like Pepto-Bismol, when in fact they are a delightful, light shade of pink that does not at all resemble a stomach relief liquid.
I decided to use old jars to organize my bathroom. We have a small bathroom without a lot of storage, so we’re forced to put the stuff we use daily on a small, silver, three-shelved cart that’s completely open. The challenge is that even when it’s organized, it looks messy.
This is one of the simplest projects I’ve ever done, but I’m really excited about the results. I thoroughly cleaned out a peanut butter jar and a spaghetti sauce jar, soaked them in warm soapy water so I could easily peel off the labels, and spray painted the lids “sweet pea” pink.
They look so clean and pretty on the silver shelf. And as I collect more jars in different shapes and sizes, I’ll simply spray paint the lids pink to make them look like a matching — yet slightly eclectic — set.
This photograph of Quinn made me smile today. You can tell by the smudges on the window that this is one of his favorite spots to hang out.
