Saving grace

One of my only complaints about our apartment is the lack of enclosed storage. It’s roomy and bright with an open floor plan and plenty of room for all our stuff, but we only have one average-sized closet in the entire apartment, which means we have to be creative with our storage solutions. Luckily, we also have a wall of built-in shelving, and while it’s a crafter’s saving grace, it’s also an eyesore. Open clutter makes me anxious, so I finally decided to cover the area with a curtain.

I have no idea why I didn’t do this sooner. It was probably the simplest household project I’ve ever done. I sewed a pocket along the top and bottom of a piece of fabric and hung it with two tension rods. I just pull the curtain aside to access the items on the shelves.

There is a little curtain hanging under this curtain that hides the cats’ litter box (you can see the top of it in the above photos). It’s also hung with a tension rod, but only on the top. The bottom needs to be not secured so the cats can easily walk in and out, but it still hides the ugly litter box from public view.

Alex and I are heading up to Tallahassee shortly to visit our friends for a few days. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Great idea! Our last place- had zilch for closets and no kitchen cupboards either. It was rough. we had to have several cabinets and dressers. We now have one large sized, and two regular sized closets that make our lives so much easier. I have a two part entertainment center that I use to store fabric and books that I have been thinking of covering like this. Yours looks perfect
