Suffering for my art

I, dear readers, have suffered greatly for my art. And by art, I mean sewing and stuff.

I’ve mentioned before that Alex and I live in a tiny….err, I mean cozy apartment, and my craft show display racks are pretty much just hanging out right in the middle of everything. There’s really no place to put them, and I don’t want to break them down because I need a place to store my purses and aprons until Atomic Holiday Bazaar. (I’m hoping to sell so much stuff at Atomic that I won’t need my display units once we get home. Good plan, no?)

Yesterday, before I’d had my coffee, I failed to deftly maneuver around my grid rack, and I stepped with stockinged feet right on the corner of the thin metal base that holds the whole thing up. (Please refer to the giant red arrow.)

And let me tell you, it HURT! It hurt all day, and since I’m such a big baby with an incredibly low tolerance for pain, I bitched and whined about it. But I never took my sock off to actually see the damage, so when I finally did, I was surprised to find a huge bruise. On the bottom of my foot. That just seems weird to me. And a little gross.

So “I suffer for my art” really translates to “we have a small apartment and I have too much stuff and I’m not the most graceful creature in the world so I got a big bruise.” Yep. Suffer.

Amidst all this suffering and complaining, I’ve managed to make a couple of new bags.

I’m digging this poodle applique. I sold my only poodle apron at Craft Roots, but I plan to make a new one to replace it.

So far, the three star market totes I’ve made have sold quickly, so I figured I’d make another one.

The corduroy is this sort of soft plum color. It’s unusual and, I think, really pretty.

As with my other star market totes, I included a small star on the strap.
