Happy little accident
This is the apron that almost didn’t happen.
I had the front, liner and (handmade, incredibly time-consuming) binding all sewn together when I noticed a tiny hole near the bottom of the liner fabric. A perfect little triangle. That’s right, a snip mark. Which means I got careless with the scissors at some point and didn’t notice.
My gut reaction was to throw the thing away, because I would never sell something with a hole in it to some poor unsuspecting customer.
But I had spent enough time on it that I didn’t want to throw it away, and I certainly didn’t want to rip out the binding seams and start over. So — simple solution — I covered it with an applique.
And since I hadn’t sewn on the waist tie yet, I could still get in there to finish off the star with a simple outline stitch.
And it totally looks like I meant to put the star there all along. And if you try to say otherwise, I will deny that this conversation ever took place.
