It’s the thought that counts?

It’s 2009!!! I can’t believe it! I hope all of you had a fun and safe New Year’s Eve.

Alex and I spent ours in Tallahassee with some good friends, with whom we exchanged the last of our Christmas gifts.

I made coasters and — for the first time ever — a potholder, all backed in black and white toile. I also made an oven mitt, but it didn’t make the final cut because it was a little lopsided and embarrassing. It looked a bit like a quilted alien hand. I know people say it’s the thought that counts, but…..just trust me. It was bad.

However, I was very happy with the coasters and potholder. My next project is to make coasters for me and Alex with his last initial — soon to be OUR last initial — on them. Sort of an early wedding present to ourselves.

Ugh. I had an oven mitt disaster this year as well. I hid it in the bottom of a drawer because after quilting all the layers together with my dying sewing machine I was so frustrated when it didn’t turn out that I couldn’t even look at it!

I like the idea of a quilted alien hand though ;3

Hehehe- the couch is not so as comfy as our modern day standards. We still use it almost daily since our computer is in that room so we watch TV shows via the internet and sit on the couch. But yeah, definately not the comfiest.
