The blue ottoman

I love Sundays. It’s the one day that Alex and I have off together, and this particular Sunday, we had nothing to do. No friends to meet, no appointments to keep, no errands to run. After spending a relaxing morning lounging around the house, we decided to do some shopping in Hyde Park, a trendy area of Tampa.

We bought an aqua blue 1950s ottoman at a store called Squaresville.

Squaresville is one of those stores that looks really cool from the outside, and is even cooler once you get inside. Room after room filled with fantastic clothing, furniture and lamps from the 50s through 80s. The ottoman is more aqua and less powder blue than these photos are showing.

We have punches of aqua blue, chocolate brown and primary red throughout our kitchen and family room, so this little guy fits in perfectly.

The nice lady at the sewing machine repair shop called me yesterday to tell me my machine was ready. But they closed at 4 p.m. yesterday and aren’t open at all today, so I’ll have to wait until Monday to pick it up.

In the meantime, I made another set of note cards with envelopes for The Boutique (the opening of which has been delayed due to my sewing machine being out of commission for almost a week).

I can’t wait to get my sewing machine back, but I’ll take advantage of being without it by working on a few more sets of note cards this evening.
